"MOODBOARDS"
My go to for an open brief is fashion because of its bountiful potential, there's never a start nor a finish, it's bold and challenges tradition head on. Everything is subconsciously communicated through fashion and art. I personally love and find inspiration in ballsy art, a real test towards public limitations, people like Alexander McQueen consistently raised the bar of not only the quality of his work but levels of controversy that surrounded it, providing evidence there are no restrictions to the level of shock value achievable within art. Over the next few weeks i need to truly explore what outcome i want to achieve from the entirety of the project , what do i want to communicate through fashion, and why? These are questions i aim to answer sooner rather than later as i explore the concept. I can research and analyse all areas of this, but i do believe what we choose to present to the world is entirely from within.

INITIAL INSPIRATIONI always find that mind maps and mood boards are a great way in finding where my minds at when starting a project as tedious as they can be, i quickly narrowed down the things i know i don't want to explore over the next few months, and the areas i either will be, or interested in exploring. I looked at a variety subjects such as the different aspects of photography and the styling of photography i was originally feeling for the project to follow up on. To really find out what i wanted to achieve and push myself into doing, i was browsing different formats of presenting my work and had come across zines, familiar to them as i had previously worked with zines on multiple occasions, researching book designs i come across zines from designers such as comme des garcons and got a pretty strong idea for the styling of book and shoots i'd be trying to achieve . Now theme wise i was heavily unsure of, it was alot of back and forth but i have ultimately settled upon fashion photography, although as i did state i'm not really keen on how broad the topic actually is, so the next few weeks will be me realistically trying to narrow down what i have so far into into something more suitable and narrow for exploring.

So far, there are things i know i want to achieve by the end of this project, i wish to create a full body of work expressed through a zine, maybe a series depending on the quantity of work i'd be producing. I definitely want to revisit a handful of photography techniques I've explored over the past two years, not only to push my work from a technical aspect, but to show growth and development across my work over the duration of this course. I also wish to push myself in different directions that i'm comfortable with such as videography, and Tim Walkers influence within that, but most importantly i just want to have fun with my project. I'm very passionate about photography and fashion and it's the route i wish to make my studies after this course, so due to a genuine passion for what i'm researching i can tell i'm really going to have fun throughout this project. I want to create memorable work, work that provokes real issues, work that really stands out, and most importantly, means something to me. I want to draw inspiration from the conceptual yet ground-breaking real work of McQueen, the sleek yet bold style of Saint Laurent, and the just overall outlandish approach to fashion as Rei Kawakubo, my research won't end here as i'm dedicated to bettering my knowledge, but i feel as though i've found myself a pretty solid starting point in terms of developing ideas and going forward in the future.
