HOW COVID EFFECTS
MY CURRENT SITUATION
With the current on-going pandemic across the world, the final major project is proving to be difficult, and it's a huge unexpected challenge not only affecting me but it's having its individual effects on my class mates. Right now the biggest task seems to be staying focused and remaining enthusiastic under such an immense amount of pressure in such a strenuous time. With the government now closing college all schools/colleges officially, it's only a matter of time before the struggles of not being able to use college facilities take their toll and test my ability as an artist to think spontaneously and adapt to make the most of the things i do have. I think the key is to stay positive and remember it's not forever, and just put my all into a project i'll be proud of regardless of the circumstances. I'm going to have to take into account that i will no longer have access to the colleges darkroom facilities such as printing resources and enlargers, as frustrating as it is due to the fact i was planning on doing some heavy dark room work, a friend has offered personal resources which hopefully means i wont be solely relying on digital images. Speaking on digital images, I've no longer access to the colleges studio which is quite a large problem, yet a solvable problem. With my project being fashion based, it's ideal that a studio be the primary source for location, it provides for a more hands on approach creatively, where as i tend to find on location shoots rather limiting compared. Regardless of what i think, i'm left with no option but to resort to on location shoots within the government's guidelines. As of right now i'm not sure on specifics regarding locations, but as i start to get a more focused idea of my work i'm sure locations will be narrowed down and selected.
With the corona virus being so evident and destructive in today's climate, in a way i expect myself to highlight and touch upon it within my work. I want my work to stand for the now and with covid being this immense topic that it is, i think it's crucial that we as artists capture the severity trough our own experiences over the past few months. Therefore i think it's only convenient that my project in some way reflects upon my own personal encounters and the suffering we've faced as a nation. Whether it's through one shoot, or images as a collective i definitely think it's a priority of mine to shape this project into a climax of the past few months, it's been detrimental and we simply cannot ignore it.
