ANALYZING MY OWN WORK:
This shoot is when my work for this project began to take a more sincere and deliberate approach, with communicating the corona virus through my own images. This specific image was an attempt with trying to use the relevancy of covid and twist it on its head. The mask alone is already such a powerful moment within the image but i wanted embrace it in a contemporary style as the mask is quite high fashion in a sense. The editing and style of shot stemmed from my early inspiration from Terry O'Neill and his blend between candid yet stylish photography. The use of the white glove was in a way to highlight the importance of hygiene during such a time, but i found the look of it to be quite stark and striking, the posture was homage to Tim Walkers album shoot for Harry Styles 'Fine Line' and his use of rather theatrical movement within the images, i found the mixture of the seriousness of the topic and way it was communicated to be somewhat conflicting, which i felt to be effective in its execution. Though not the strongest image from the shoot that day, i definitely think it was one of the more visually striking ones upon selection. Admittedly i think the framing for the shot could've been improved by just moving the model to the left and being central of the bridge allowing for a more strictly proposed shot. |
